Balint Pato defends his thesis

February 9, 2026

Balint Pato (thumbs up in the photo) successfully defends his thesis on Design and evaluation of quantum error correction protocols for fault tolerance, coherent noise, and applications.  It was great to see his undergrad mentee Michael Wang also dress up for the exam. Balint had many great results, but make sure to check out his tensor network tool for quantum error correction https://planqtn.com/.

Thanks to Natalie Klco, Robert Calderbank, Iman Marvian, and Galen Reeves for serving on the thesis committee.
