The Brown Lab had two ECE Masters Theses defense on the same day!
In the morning, June Vanlerberghe defended her thesis on Efficient Tensor Network Representations of Quantum Error Correcting Codes. It included her contribution to PlanqTN and a better way to estimate the tensor contraction cost of stabilizer codes. See Pato, Vanlerberghe, and Brown https://arxiv.org/abs/2510.08210 for more details.
In the afternoon, Devansh Bhardwaj defended his thesis on Estimation and Decoding of Drifting Noise in Quantum Error Correction. Devansh's thesis work uses signal processing methods to determine underlying noise transformations from the fluctuations in error syndrome measurements. This work is captured in his paper: Bhardwaj, Lin, Takou, and Brown https://arxiv.org/abs/2511.09491 .
We ended the day with a group celebration at the Can Opener. Congrats to June and Devansh!
